Prelibato!
Is the weather really that bad in England?
Winter is grey, drizzly and gloomy. Summer is full of expectations that never really become a reality. It’s rarely warm and events are often rained off.
I’m not going to dwell on or complain about the topic of weather but there are some days like today – a cold , wet day at the end of November – when you need something to cheer you up.
I made a wish without knowing it and it has been granted.
I had a date with an old friend for lunch and we stumbled upon a brand new, lovely Italian place, in Beaconsfield Old Town called Prelibato. Gourmet food.
Small, rustic and comfortable. Family-run as most Italian food-related businesses are, it only opened a few months ago. Cristina, the owner, welcomes you in a communicative and friendly Italian way, attentively describing the food on the menu. It has a good selection of wines and nice authentic Italian food.
Giuseppe, Cristina’s husband, at the deli counter, treats your eyes to mortadella, finocchiona, burrata, buffalo mozzarella, sun-dried tomatoes.
We had Lasagna and a Caprese tower, both delicious and well presented.
You should never compromise on quantity for quality, and their strength is that they import all their high-quality food directly from Italy, not using any wholesalers in London.
For this reason it might seem a bit pricey but give it a try. You won’t regret it.
