Step by Step method

  • For the tomato sauce: heat some olive oil in a pan add the onions and cook at low temperature till it soft. Add the peeled tomatoes, chopped, simmer and allow to cook for about 20 minutes. Add the basil at the very end.

  • If using the lasagne sheets you should allow them to boil for at least 8 minutes, even if it doesn t say so in the box, otherwise it would take too long to prepare them. Be careful as the can stick to each other.

  • When ready, next step is to build up a layer of your lasagne, so have your ingredients ready and on hand. Start spreading a layer of tomato sauce in a tray, next adding a single layer of sheets, then some tomato sauce, some mozzarella finely cut and béchamel sauce.

  • Carry on alternating, the tomato sauce, lasagne sheets mozzarella till you get to the top of the tray.

  • Finish them off with tomato sauce, mozzarella, bechamel and grated parmesan on the top.

  • Cook the the pre-heat oven at 200 degrees.

Tips & variations

  • Make the lasagne with the ragù sauce for a stronger flavour.
